Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UJVNL), the state’s leading hydropower generation body, is set to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into its operations to improve efficiency, save time, and ensure timely project completion. The announcement was made by Managing Director Sandeep Singhal, who emphasized the potential of AI to overcome challenges posed by adverse conditions.
AI to Revolutionize Hydropower Operations
“Through AI-driven strategic planning, UJVNL will enhance operational efficiency, optimize power transmission and distribution, and reduce costs,” stated Singhal. The initiative aims to modernize processes and make them more reliable.
Focus on Machinery and Maintenance
Providing more details, UJVNL Public Relations Officer Vimal Dabral shared that the AI being implemented would be open-source technology. This system will focus on evaluating the lifespan of machinery used in hydropower projects, enabling timely repairs and reducing downtime.
The implementation will be carried out in collaboration with the Project Management Institute North India Chapter, a non-governmental organization specializing in AI applications and strategic management for public sector enterprises.
By leveraging artificial intelligence, UJVNL aims to set new benchmarks in hydropower project efficiency while addressing operational challenges and enhancing cost-effectiveness.
