Coastal Areas Brace for Extremely Heavy Rain
According to the IMD, extremely heavy rainfall (over 20 cm within 24 hours) is likely in Coastal Karnataka on June 16. Goa is also expected to witness similar severe weather today.
Orange Alert for Multiple Indian States
An orange alert remains active in several states, including:
- Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat
- Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Bihar
- Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Meghalaya
- Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka
These areas may experience heavy rains, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds.
Thunderstorms Expected in Tamil Nadu and Telangana
In Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the IMD predicts light to moderate rains with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. In Telangana, similar weather conditions are expected to last until June 19.
Southwest Monsoon Advancing
The southwest monsoon continues to move forward, bringing heavy rains to Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. The IMD has forecasted more intense rainfall in Gujarat and Maharashtra starting from June 18.
Upcoming Rainfall in Northern India
In northern India, wet weather is expected:
- In Haryana on June 21
- In Uttar Pradesh starting June 18
- In Himachal Pradesh from June 20
- In Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, rainfall is likely to continue until June 21
