Uttarakhand has been facing severe monsoon disasters, including:

  • Cloudbursts

  • Landslides

  • Flash floods

These calamities have left behind widespread destruction, claiming over 80 lives and leaving nearly 100 people missing. Thousands have been injured, and infrastructure worth ₹5,000 crore has been damaged. Roads, schools, and power supply lines are among the worst-hit.

A central team had already visited the state earlier to assess the damage and provide assistance measures.

Earlier this week, PM Modi also visited Punjab and Himachal Pradesh to review similar flood-hit regions.
