‘Self-Reliant Uttarakhand’ Tableau to Be Showcased at Bharat Parv

Uttarakhand’s special tableau themed “Self-Reliant Uttarakhand” is set to be displayed from January 26 to 31 at the historic Red Fort in Delhi. Uttarakhand’s special tableau themed “Self-Reliant Uttarakhand” is set to be displayed from January 26 to 31 at the historic Red Fort in Delhi. The tableau highlights the State’s efforts towards self-reliance, in line with the national Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, while celebrating its rich culture, supporting local artisans, and promoting traditional livelihoods.


Tableau Highlights and Cultural Significance

The Ministry of Defence introduced the tableau during a press conference at the National Stadium Camp, New Delhi, alongside tableaus from other states and ministries.

According to K S Chauhan, joint director of the Information Department and nodal officer for the tableau:

  • The front section features copper replicas of traditional musical instruments such as Dhol and Ransingha, reflecting Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage and the craftsmanship of local artisans.

  • A large copper Manjira is also displayed, showcasing the finesse of traditional copper art.

  • The middle section presents copper utensils including Gagar, Surahi, and Kundi, which have been central to Uttarakhand households for generations.

  • Side panels display images of traditional musical instruments, further emphasizing the State’s musical traditions.

  • The rear section depicts a lifelike copper artisan working by hand, illustrating the traditional methods of craftsmanship and the dedication of the artisan community.


Focus on Artisans and Self-Reliance

The tableau emphasizes how traditional crafts are not only cultural symbols but also sources of income for many families in Uttarakhand. It sends a strong message about self-reliance, skill development, and respect for traditional knowledge, highlighting the State’s commitment to empowering artisans and preserving heritage.

This showcase at Bharat Parv offers a glimpse into Uttarakhand’s journey toward sustainable growth and cultural pride, presenting the State as a model for promoting local skills and livelihoods.
