- The green tax will target vehicles registered outside Uttarakhand.
- Fees are set at Rs 20 for three-wheelers, Rs 40 for four-wheelers, Rs 60 for medium-sized vehicles, and Rs 80 for heavy vehicles.
- Exemptions:
- Electric vehicles (EVs), two-wheelers, and CNG-powered vehicles are exempt.
- Vehicles registered in Uttarakhand and those providing essential services like ambulances and fire trucks will not be charged.
Efficient Tax Collection System
The state will use automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras to identify vehicles from outside Uttarakhand. The tax will be seamlessly deducted from the FASTag wallet of vehicle owners, ensuring a hassle-free process.
Flexible Pass Options for Tourists
Visitors can pay for single-day entry or choose extended passes:
- Quarterly Pass: 20 times the daily rate.
- Annual Pass: 60 times the daily rate.

Sanat Kumar Singh, Joint Commissioner (Transport), stated that this initiative aims to balance growing tourism with the protection of Uttarakhand’s natural beauty and resources for future generations.
