Extensive Health Arrangements for Pilgrims
As the sacred Char Dham Yatra—covering Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath—begins on April 30, 2025, the Uttarakhand government has announced major healthcare and safety enhancements to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage experience.
Multilingual Health Advisory & Awareness Campaigns
To aid pilgrims across India, a comprehensive health advisory will be made available in 13 regional languages. These advisories can be accessed through QR codes placed at hotels, restaurants, and parking areas. Additionally, public health awareness will be raised through hoardings at key congestion zones and major stops along the Yatra routes.
New Medical Facility at Kedarnath
A modern 17-bed medical center is nearing completion at Kedarnath, set to be operational before the Yatra starts. This two-story healthcare unit will offer orthopedic services in addition to general medical support.
Emergency Support and Screening at Key Points
- At Phata, a key transit point 32 km from Kedarnath, 12 medical units have been deployed with an open area for helicopter landings.
- Screening teams will be stationed at 12 strategic locations, including helipads and parking areas, to monitor the health of arriving pilgrims.
Chamoli Route to Badrinath Strengthened
In Chamoli, en route to Badrinath, 20 new medical centers will be fully operational, supported by four major screening points at:
- Gochhar Barrier
- Pandukeshwar Bazaar
- Trauma Center Karnaprayag
- Panduwakhal (Gairsain)
Medical Readiness for Gangotri-Yamunotri Route
All medical units on the Gangotri-Yamunotri route are fully equipped, with staff deployment scheduled to begin by April 28. Ambulances will be placed along the entire route, and mandatory health check-ups are required for pilgrims above 50 years of age.
