Following instructions from the Union Health Ministry, Health Secretary R. Rajesh Kumar has directed hospitals to prepare 12,000 beds, while ensuring ICUs and ventilators are fully functional to deal with any medical emergencies.
Border Areas and Air Surveillance on High Alert
Due to ongoing military operations and increased vigilance along the India-Pakistan and India-China-Nepal borders, residents in Dehradun reported hearing frequent Indian Air Force flights over the city between 1 AM and 3 AM. These flights are part of routine military preparedness and aerial surveillance.
Indian Army Neutralizes Over 50 Drones Along Border
In a significant defensive move, the Indian Army successfully intercepted and shot down over 50 drones that reportedly attempted to cross the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) from Pakistan.
The Army’s Air Defence units used advanced systems, including L-70 guns, ZU-23mm, Schilka systems, and other anti-drone technologies, to neutralize the drone threat in sectors like Udhampur, Jammu, Samba, Akhnoor, Nagrota, and Pathankot.
No Civilian Casualties Reported
So far, no injuries or casualties have been reported. Blackouts were observed in border villages as a security measure. Residents confirmed the presence of drones and the Army’s swift response.
A local resident said, “We saw drones around 8 PM, and firing continued through the night. Our forces responded quickly. People are alert but not scared.”
Leaders Respond, Urge Public to Stay Calm
Former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah confirmed he is visiting Jammu to assess the situation after the attempted drone infiltration.
Authorities are urging citizens to remain calm, avoid sharing unverified information, and trust official sources for updates. All necessary steps are being taken to ensure public safety and national security.
